RECODED

Recoded merges digital art with its symbolic past. In this series, I create images using contemporary software, then translate them into ASCII* animations. Here the animation translations exist in an unusual space: each piece is simultaneously text and image, code and composition. By keeping the structure visible, the work reveals digital art's ancestral encoding, typically concealed beneath polished surfaces.

What happens when code doesn’t hide?

*ASCII Art was an early form of computer art. ASCII Art uses text characters from American Standard Code for Information Interchange to form pictures.
